Ideas for Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day everyone! I love this day because even though I genuinely believe we should treat everyday as Earth Day (I know, it's dorky), I think people become extra conscious of their environmental impact this day every year. At least I hope they do...

Anyway! Here are some ideas I wanted to share on how we can all do our part in becoming more environmentally conscious when making decisions and taking action to both celebrate and increase the cleanliness of our planet.

1) PLEDGE TO CHANGE YOUR HABITS

There are quite a number of pledges you can take on the Earth Day Organization's website. I am starting off slowly because I don't want to pledge to do too much and then because I may mess up on one thing, I stop doing it all. The first pledge I've taken was to have Meatless Monday every week. IF you click that link, the pledge information will explain in thorough detail how eating meat effects the environment and your personal health. It's worth a read. Other pledges include Reducing Energy ConsumptionComposting and Ending Junk Mail. I think the "Ending junk mail" one is the pledge i'm ready to take on next.

2) SWITCHING TO SOY CANDLES

I'm a total sucker for Yankee candles and the occasional Bath & Body Works Candle, but I have to say, i'm trying to stop shopping at both of these stores. I am vowing to try and switch over to solely using soy candles because they give off a much cleaner burn. They also last a lot longer, so it's really a win-win. They typically are a bit more expensive but I think it's worth it, especially with the added burn time factor. Here is a link to a cute Etsy shop that sells only Soy candles and they are cheaper than most... Pure Joy Soy Candles.

3) RECYCLE

I'm really not going to go into detail with this. It's so obvious lol.

4) SWITCH TO SOLAR CHARGERS

If there is one thing we can all do... it's use solar chargers. Not only does this allow us to portably charge our devices, but it also saves us money in electricity and is better for the environment than using electricity. Amazon has some really great options for your cell phone and laptop.

5) CLEAN UP 10 THINGS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

There are 7 billion people on Earth. If we all cleaned up 10 pieces of garbage in our communities, we would pick up 70 billion pieces of trash... Such little effort for such a huge difference!

With that said, stop littering!

I hope you guys liked this blog! Please comment below what you will be doing to help take care of our planet!

Xo,

April
